Chase

Have you ever sat down to try and write an “about me” page? It is really not as easy as it seems. I want to tell you who I am so you feel comfortable getting to know me, but at the same time, how do you sum up your life or a small portion of your life in a few short paragraphs and not come off sounding contrived or tooting your own horn?
I want to put you at ease and offer you a glass of iced tea and let you feel comfortable getting to know me. I am nearing 30 and have two wonderful daughters, Corina who is 1 and Rhiannon who is 3. My husband, I imported from New Zealand, and he has been living in the States and married to me for just over 7 years. We also have two beautiful cats. I currently work 40 hours a week at a fabric and craft store.
I have been knitting since I was a teenager. I remember a brief lesson on knitting in Girl Scouts, but it didn’t stick and I wasn’t interested. Later I learned from my mom when I was 17 because I wanted a cabled sweater and I had picked out too many cables I liked. So my mom (Nin) said she would make one and I could make the other. Nothing like jumping in with both feet, but it turned out well. I learned to crochet at a much younger age, but I am not exactly sure when. My dad’s mom crocheted everything, she did not know how to knit. I remember that she was always crocheting or making something out of plastic canvas.
I left knitting for a while, not coming back to it until recently when I rediscovered circular needles, and they are now my passion because I can stop whenever I need to chase after my girls! I really enjoy the relaxation I am able to find, in the quiet peace of the rhythm of knitting. It is often those moments that allow me to relax, take a breath, regain my focus and be a better mum, wife, manager, daughter, and whatever other hat I need to wear that day.
Welcome to My Mummy Knits, a place to let your hair down and talk about knitting, children and other related topics!
